What this calculator assumes

• Thresholds, taper rates and maximum payment rates are approximate and are indexed by Services Australia in March and September each year — confirm the current figures with Services Australia before relying on them.
• Both the assets test and the income test are applied and the lower result is shown. Age and residence eligibility rules are not checked.
• Financial assets are assumed to produce the income you enter. In practice Centrelink deems a rate of income on financial investments regardless of what they actually earn, which can change the result significantly.
• The family home is excluded from assets, and the maximum rates used include the pension and energy supplements. Rent assistance and other supplements are not included.
• This is a general estimate only, not personal financial advice and not a Services Australia assessment.
